Randolph signs as representative for \u003cstrong\u003eElizabeth Pleasants\u003c\/strong\u003e. The reverse bears a contemporary docket identifying the transaction, Randolph, and the date.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRandolph married Jefferson’s eldest daughter, Martha “Patsy” Jefferson, in 1790. At the time this document was executed, he was serving in the Virginia Senate. He later represented Virginia in Congress, served as a colonel during the War of 1812, and became governor of Virginia from 1819 to 1822.
