The unusually large seal gives the document considerable visual and historical appeal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOliver Spencer Halsted (1792–1877) was a respected Newark lawyer and public official who served in the New Jersey Assembly, the State Council, and as Surrogate of Essex County.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCondition:\u003c\/strong\u003e Considerable age toning, foxing, soiling and edge wear.
