VON ARENTSCHILDT — GERMAN MANUSCRIPT NOTE WITH EARLY WATERLOO ATTRIBUTION

A brief German manuscript note addressed to “Your Excellency” and signed “v. Arentschildt,” preserved with handwritten collector identifications.
A red-ink annotation tentatively attributes the note to Colonel Sir Friedrich von Arentsschildt, commander of the 7th British Cavalry Brigade during the Waterloo campaign. A separate pencil annotation appears to identify General Victor von Arentschildt, the Hanoverian and Portuguese artillery officer. The precise author remains unresolved.

The sheet offers an interesting example of historical autograph collecting, retaining both the original signed communication and a collector’s attempt to connect it with a named Waterloo commander.
Condition: General toning, pronounced horizontal folds, scattered spotting and surface soiling, uneven edges, and small marginal tears or losses. The lower folded portion is lighter in color. Original writing and signature remain visible, with later red-ink, black-ink, and pencil annotations.
